There was a disappointing turnout from the male club members in the final Hampshire Road Race League fixture of the season. In the nearest the club gets to a home fixture, only 3 turned out. Paul Cameron was unable to repeat his winning ways from last week, but in a strong field he was still first Island runner in 13th place and 36.10. Ian Jolliffe was 7th in his age group (71st overall) in 42.44 and Stewart Cox, 40th in his age group, completed the team in 48.44.
Ali French led home the club’s female contingent in 51.03 for 16th in her age group, closely followed by Madeline Goodman in 52.20 and Hilary Searle in 52.22. Hilary was 7th in her age group in only her second outing for the club, while Madeline once again won the over 55 prize, although the hot weather meant that she did not threaten her course record.
