A number of West Wight Road Runners extended their activities from running to encompass other activities, in the Wight Challenge (cycle, run, canoe) and the West Wight Triathlon (swim, cycle, run). Turgay Hassan-Hicks was a member of the Good, Bad & Ugly team that finished 9th in the Wight Challenge in 4.15.34.
In the triathlon, experienced triathletes Nina and Bill French excelled, with Nina winning the women’s event in 1.49.39, and Bill first home in the over-60 age group in 2.06.30. Three relative novices also competed, with Pete Boynton leading them home in 38th position with a time of 2.02.43. Mike Green recorded 2.14.06 and Madeline Goodman 2.25.08. Stuart Cox also competed as a runner in a team of three, recording 35.22 for the 7km course.
On the mainland, Ian Jolliffe managed to fit in another race on his travels. He recorded 1.31.26 in the Seaton half-marathon in Devon, finishing first in the 55-59 age group.
