West Wight Road Runner Mike Green ran the 16 mile Kingston Breakfast run on the 2nd April in sunshine and a good breeze. As a warm up for the marathon Mike was aiming for a fast run and very pleased with his time of 1:56.32 finishing 212th of the large field of 1267 runners.
West Wight Road runners competed in their Cross Country Championship on Saturday 8th April starting at 1000a.m. from Compton Farm Car Park. It was good to see one of the newer club runners, Andrew McEwan winning the race in 28.15 and winning his first club trophy. Seconds behind the next runner home was Simon McMorran in 28.28. Mike Green was third in 29.07, followed by Danny Mannion in 29.08 and Paul Scivier in 32.07. Next home were Hilary Searle and Vic Loveday who finished in 34.58 despite having suffered a course detour. Hilary Searle won the nominated time event, being just 2.02 minutes slower than her nominated time.
