Nearly a double for Paul Cameron

Six West Wight Road Runners competed in the Newport to Ryde Road Race on Saturday 15th April 2006. Once again Paul Cameron showed them the way to do it, the overall race winner in 39.02 and winner of the first IOW Man Trophy. Next runner home was Ian Jolliffe in 49.08 and winner of the Vet 60 Prize. Paul Scivier finished in 51.52, Hilary Searle in 56.28, Vic Loveday in 57.27. Next runner was Madeline Goodman in 59.27, another sparkling performance to give her the winner ladies Vet 55 prize.

Five West Wight Road Runners competed in the Three Hills Race. Once again Paul Cameron gave a strong performance for his team, leading round the whole course and finishing second and first IOW Male. Next home were Simon McMorran and Andrew McEwan in 55.46 and 55.52 in 25th and 26th place and giving West Wight Road Runners second place in the team competition. Next home was Paul Scivier 34th in 61.58. Last West Wight Road runner home was Hilary Searle 54th in 68.54, winning the Isle of Wight Ladies Vet 45 prize and second ladies Vet 45. In their club championship Paul Cameron won the West Wight Club Championship and keeps the cup for another year and Hilary Searle won the ladies trophy.

The next run in the WWRR summer series will be at 1900 on Wednesday April 26th from the Red Lion at Freshwater (grid ref: 346873). Visitors, guest runners or new club runners of any ability very welcome.
