Isle of Wight Half-Marathon

Five WWRR joined the 150plus strong field for the IoW Half Marathon on Sun 20th August. This is a challenging energy sapping course run on a warm if breezy Sunday morning. The club had a successfull day with Simon McMorran leading the team home in 8th place overall, and 2nd V40 in a time of 1 hour 27mins08secs. Closely behind was Andrew McEwan in 12th place, and 4th v40 in a time of 1 hour 30mins and 17secs. Peter Boynton ran well for his 32nd place in a time of 1 hour 38mins and 35 secs and Ian Joliffe was 33rd, and 1st v60 in a time of i hour 39mins & 35secs. The fifth team member was Dave Baker who came home in 51st place in 1hour 46mins & 48 secs.The team was delighted to claim medals for the winning team overall.

The event was excellently organised by Ryde Harriers.

The results are now on the Ryde site. There were 171 finishers today, with our team edging Ryde into second place.
