Magnificant League Debut for the Ladies - Let's go for Promotion

Five club members took part in the first race of the 2006-2007 Hampshire Road Race League, the Overton 5-mile race. In a large and strong field Simon McMorran ran well to finish 68th of 345 finishers in a time of 30.25. Ian Jolliffe was 2nd over-60 in 32.23 and the men’s team was completed by Stuart Cox in 40.22, a faster time than he achieved on his previous outing in this race. The team was 6th of 11 in its division.

For the first time the club entered a ladies team in the League, and the two team members excelled. Hilary Searle was 8th in her age group in 38.08 and Madeline Goodman was first over-60 in 41.09. The team was a magnificent 2nd out of 11 teams in their division.
