On Wednesday evening Simon McMorran travelled over to Portsmouth for the annual 10K race. A warm though breezy evening greeted the 371 runners.
The race was run on a flat course over two laps which started and finished on the track at the Mountbatten Centre. The first km was run around the track, which given the numbers involved was quite a sight. Seeking a good time Simon ran well through the first 5K and was well on for a pb. Working hard on the second lap he slowed and finished in 30th place in a time of 37.16, thus avoiding the elusive sub thirty seven minute barrier. This was a well organised event run by Portsmouth Athletic Club.
The next Island race is the Brading 10K on Sunday 17th June, starting at 11am from Smallbrook Stadium.
