On Saturday 1st of September, five West Wight Road Runners took part in the Overton 5 amongst a field of 450. The weather was fine and conditions good for racing at this 5 mile Hampshire Road Race League event.
Ian Jolliffe was the first of our runners back in a time of 33m 22s, coming in 134th place but impressively as the 3rd V60. Close behind Ian came Gareth Knight in 33m 37s followed by Paul Scivier, 36m 52s. Ed Garbett recorded a personal best over this distance of 37m 8s and Vic Loveday came in after in 41m 41s.
This result puts the mens team in 8th place in the HRRL division 2. The 9th and 10th placed teams failed to turn up! No surprises that one of those teams was Ryde Harriers who were reinstated to division 2 due to new teams joining the HRRL.
The next HRRL race is the Hrdley half marathon on October 7th. We are needing at least one more man to enter this race so that we can have a team, no entries will be allowed on the day.
