Ideal running conditions welcomed the field of 610 entrants for this year’s Romsey 5 mile road race. Held over a gently undulating course, the wind abated and the sun shone, and entries on the day exceeded the expected numbers.
Amongst the 377 men & 233 women were Feiron Walsh, Sue Scott & Simon McMorran, all of whom returned with good performances. Feiron finished in a good time of 53.04 for 212th lady, with Sue close behind in 229th place in a time of 59.09, which gave her 4th V60.
Simon produced probably his best performance as an old vet. Running strongly from the start he came home in 35th place in a time of 29.31, a vet pb of 44 seconds, and was rewarded for his efforts with a third place shield in the V45 category.
This was a well organised event by Concept Sports. If you are interested they are also organising a 10K race in Winchester on February 24th. Next Sunday sees a return to HRRL action with the Ryde 10 Miler.
