Easter Races

Despite the "Arctic" winds on Easter Saturday, four Club members braved it and turned out for the Newport to Ryde Road Race (7.2 miles). The course now avoids crossing the Coppins Bridge roundabout and has therefore been increased by point two of a mile! It was good to see Stewart Cox and Pete Boynton back in action again, and they came home in 1.10.38 and 1.02.27 respectively. Andrew McEwen recorded a very good time of 50.30 and Madeline Goodman managed 1.02.31, which was good enough for 1st Lady Vet 55, and a new course record due to the extra point two of a mile!!

Easter Monday saw eight Club members tackle the 3 Hills (8 miles multi-terrain), a first for some of them. The weather conditions were much improved from Saturday, and the vertical, "breathtaking" climb up from Alum Bay, was, as ever, rewarded at the top with the fantastic views that never change!

Andrew was first member home in another very good time of 54.51, followed by Gareth Knight 1.00.26, Ian Jolliffe 1.02.07, Jess Hinton 1.05.59, Madeline Goodman 1.12.34 (which was again good enough for 1st Lady Vet 55), Eric Critchison 1.12.49, Steve Dines 1.13.36 and Pete Boynton 1.17.10.
The "first-timers" all agreed that they would run this course again!
