Winchester 10 K

An enthusiastic group of eleven West Wight Road Runners turned out for a warm Winchester 10K. This was the last event in the current season of Hampshire Road Race League races. The race confirmed the men’s league position of sixth, and ensured they stay in the current league for next season. With an excellent turnout of five women runners the club can also look forward to fully participating in next years league events.

First home in 42m59s was Gareth Knight 105th male and 11th MV50, followed by Ian Jolliffe in 43m28s 119th male and an excellent 5th MV60. Next came an improving Michel Green in 45m15s 161st male and 46th SM, completing the scoring team was Turgay Hassan-Hicks in 46m26s 179th male and 31st V45. The team was completed by Eric Critchison in 50m45s 262nd male runner 74th SM and by Victor Loveday 311th male in 54m41s, 19th in the MV60.

The women’s team was lead home by Madeline Goodman in 50m57s, 57th women and an excellent 3rd in the FV55 category, followed by Anne Ballingall in 56m13s, 98th women and 11th FV50, completing the scoring team was Lora Hansen-Hicks in 58m11s, 111th woman and 37th SF. Completing the women’s team were Claire Critchison 140th women and 47th SF and Feiron Walsh 170th women and 13th FV55

Next Ryde have been relegated we saw Peter Young at Winchester but he was there by himself Hart who were only one point below them fielded a team and so its 3rd division for the Ryde men. Could they be competing in it with the Isle of Wight Road Runners next year I wonder (that will be interesting).

Unfortunately our ladies have been relegated to the third division, but they are on the up already as evidenced by an excellent result of 6th placed team on Sunday within the second division. So next year promotion.

Hey, you cheeky ***!

Nice to hear from you though Glyn. I am now Chairman (!?) and Race Director of the Needles Marathon. This is purely down to lack of club members I remind myself regularly. Do keep in touch, I have lost your e-mail address.
