Vintage performance by West Wight Runners at Solent Half Marathon

West Wight Road Runners put in an excellent performance at the Solent Half Marathon. The Hampshire Road Race League event saw the women’s team finishing second in League three and the men’s team fifth in league two. With 372 finishers the race was notable not just for the team score but also for the impressive age category placing achieved by the team members in such a competitive league run.

The women were lead home by Chris Amy 4th in the fv55 category in 1h55m, 53rd female runner followed by Madeline Goodman 6th fv55 in 2h6min2sec, 74th female. For the men Andrew McEwen was first home as 10th mv40 in 34th place he finished in 1h27m27sec, Gareth knight was 11th mv50 in 1h31min13sec 56th male runner, Ian Jolliffe had the best category result of the day with 2nd mv60 in 1h35m49sec, 84th male with Paul Scivier 49th mv40 in 1h42min49sec and 133rd male finisher. New member Paul Judge ran an excellent first race for the club to finish 28th mv50 in 1h43min09sec, 134th male and Victor Loveday completed the team as 22nd mv60 in 2h7min20sec and 231st male.
