West Wight Road Runners travelled to Lordshill for the Hampshire Road Race Leagues 10 mile event on Sunday the 2nd of November. In perfect running conditions West Wight again fielded full men’s and women’s teams for this gently undulating rural course. The runners competing were rewarded with a combination of personal best and seasons best performances in an exceptionally high quality field of four hundred runners.
The men’s team were lead home by Andrew McEwan in 1h4m42s who was 73rd male runner and 26th V40, he was followed by Gareth Knight in 1h7m30s, 16th V50 and 100th male runner, Ian Jolliffe was an impressive 3rd in the V60 category and 121st male runner in 1h10m08s the teams fourth runner was Paul Scivier in 1h11m16s who was 133rd male runner and 49th V40. Victor Loveday completed the men’s team with 1h28m11s in 252nd and 30th V60.
The women’s team continued with their excellent league performances lead home by Jess Hinton running in her first league race this year in 1h16m01s finishing 37th women runner and 14th snr. Followed by Madeline Goodman in 1h23m35s an impressive 4th in the V55 and 73rd women runner with the team completed by Chris Amy 6th V55 in 1h25m44s as 84th women runner almost a minute faster than she ran the Great South Run just a week previously.
The women’s team scored second in their league for the third race in a row consolidating there position in first place in league 3 whilst the men’s team finished sixth in league 2.
