Club Cross Country Results

West Wight Road Runners annual cross-country championship took place on an excellent new course around and over Afton Down. Will Ambrosini set a fast pace and never looked like being caught, finishing in a fast 38.18. Behind him, defending champion Andrew McEwan eventually got the better of Gareth Knight, with times of 39.03, 39.29 respectively. James Bretts, running as a guest, was next in 41.01.

In the ladies race Madeline Goodman was again first home in 49.10, followed by Hayley Waites (51.20), Claire Hopkins (57.47), Cherry Owens (58.33) and Lora Hassan-Hicks (73.36). A nominated race is held in conjunction with the event. Last year’s winner, Turgay Hassan-Hicks was again close (25 seconds) to his nominated time of 47.47, but was beaten by Madeline Goodman who was only 10 seconds adrift of her time.
