The Salisbury 10 Mile Race

Eight West Wight Road Runners travelled to Salisbury for the Salisbury 10 Mile race. It was particularly well run by Madeline Goodman who led the ladies home in 1:26:14 and Cherry Owens in 1:35:54 who managed to secure a second place in Ladies league 3 despite being a runner down in the team. This will keep the team in second place with a two point lead over the next team in their promotion battle with just a few races to go hopefully other ladies returning from injury will boost the team for the last few races which will provide a nail biting time for West Wight ladies.

Meanwhile eight men completed the race led home by V50 Gareth Knight in 92nd place, Andrew McEwen finished in 107th position in a time of 1:08:35, followed by Ian Jolliffe V60 in 1:11:36 and Paul Scivier V40 in 1:14:46. V50 Paul Judge followed closely behind in 1:15:17, new club member Stephen Morris ran his first race for the team and first ten mile race for five years finishing well in 1:17:01, Eric Critchison finished in 1:22:14 and V60 Vic Loveday finished in 1:30:31. The men’s team is back up to position 5 in the second division of the Hampshire Road Race League and a good day was had by all in the Salisbury sunshine.
