News from the Club Captain

Seven WWRRs took part in Sunday's very chilly Ryde 10.  I think we all did well battling against the wind and those hills but special mention must go to Megan whose time we think betters course records previously held for the F65 age category and indeed now starts a new one for F70.

Of course, the race was also the first to allow us to win points in our Club Championship (the website will have the new points chart up soon)!   It doesn't matter if you missed this one because there are still 9 left from which the points from your best 7 will count.  Other races in which you can earn points will be the same as last year so do think joining us on the next one: the mudfest that is The IOW Championship, i.e. the second of the Ryde Harrier's XC races on Feb 19th at Smallbrook Stadium.  You can enter on the day but don't forget to alert Graham Maitland in advance that you intend to take part   ( and include your D.o.B.

Some of us on the committee have plans afoot for the club to more formally recognise improvement in running, say over 2017, and details will be finalised and published shortly. However, it may involve running Parkrun on a regular basis (if you have never tried this event, it's a delight and can be recommended) so please do register with them and give it a go soon.

Finally, the committee will be planning our programme of summer runs very soon.  We'd love to have new routes to explore all over the island so please everybody consider organising a route:  the more that contribute the better.
The winter programme of Wednesday night club runs will continue until the evenings get lighter in April.  Although we are all looking forward to those longer days, there is still fun to be had frolicking round Freshwater most Wednesdays and beyond (on the first Wednesday of the month).
