Club Run on Wednesday 9th August

This Wednesday evening the run is a "coast-hugging" route from Gurnard.  Grid Ref: 478959
All runners are welcome, just turn up and enjoy a sociable run.
Meet at 6:45 for a 7pm start.
A map of the Route is here: Mapometer Map
Ian has provided the following useful guidance:
Meet on the grass across the road from the Woodvale pub.
The sailing club has racing on Wednesday evenings so you may have to
go a little way along the sea front or up the hill (Woodvale Road) to park.
The course:
Out-and-back, along the beach then along the coastal path to Thorness Bay,
where you do a loop. The usual route is 4.6 miles, but smaller and larger
loops are possible at Thorness Bay. I ran it in the rain last Wednesday and
conditions were a bit reminiscent of Shalfleet, though not nearly as bad -
mostly OK underfoot but some rutted bits and a couple of muddy patches; a
few nettles and brambles, weighed down with rain, were drooping across the
path, but shouldn't cause any problems unless it's equally wet.  One field
sometimes has cattle, but they were in the next-door field last Wednesday.
There are a couple of places where the path is close to the cliff edge,
though there is only a small drop. The stony stretch along the beach near
the start and finish can be avoided by taking the road, but at the expense
of a steep hill. If using the beach, get onto the seawall at the earliest
opportunity. The most likely place to get lost on the usual route is halfway
round the loop - at a junction at the top of an uphill stony track by a
house turn left, then LEFT AGAIN onto a footpath, immediately after the
house. If lost, head for the coast and pick up the coastal path.
Afterwards:
No meals on offer I'm afraid, but if anyone would like tea/coffee and
biscuits/cake or beer and crisps you are very welcome to make your way up
the hill to 30 Woodvale Road (opposite Gurnard Heights).
