The 7th Annual Fun Run for children took place today. Thirty four children took part in the event, they all completed the course which this year had to be altered to take into account the fencing off of Stroud Playing field for this years carnival .
The winner of the 9 to 15 year old race was Stuart Isaacs who despite a collision with second placed Christy Flux managed to complete the course in 6 minutes and 23 seconds. The first girl home was Laura Westwood from Newport. She finished in nine minutes and 10 seconds.
The under 9's fun run was won by Dan Flux who sped home in seven minutes and 56 seconds. This is a double win for Dan who also triumphed at his school sports day sprint race. He was challenged hard by the first girl back, Holly Hampton who finished in seven minutes and 58 seconds.
Overall the event was a success and I hope that we can keep it going in future years. Thanks goes out to all those who supported the event and volunteered by marshalling or registering the youngsters.
