Last
weekend four West Wight Road Runners
collected running medals from diverse locations. Well
done all for venturing to these interesting places, and achieving some great running
times. We look forward to hearing more about your experiences!
Furthest
from home: Cherry Owens was in Spain to take part in the Valencia
10 km race, an event which together with the city's marathon on the same day was
well supported by the local people. There were approximately 7,500 runners in
the 10km race! Cherry did well to come 3rd in her age category with a time of 1.00.14
(1 hr and 14sec). Photo below - Cherry with finisher's medal.
Closer to home, Graham Maddison and Christine Armstrong were enjoying
rather cooler conditions in the sunshine at the Gosport Half Marathon. Graham earned 2nd place in his age category with a time of 1.54.32. This is a PB for him taking almost 10 minutes off his previous best! Christine finished in 2.16.07. The photo shows them both after the race outside race HQ.
And at a higher latitude - Phil Andrews competed in the Conwy Half Marathon (the 10th anniversary run) in Wales, with over
2500 runners competing. Phil finished in 1:49:09 chip time.
